Il soutient que ces théories restent attachées à l’histoire de Babel, dans la mesure où 1. de leur perspective, les diversités le cèdent à ce qui est universel ; 2. le locuteur est envisagé comme celui d’une seule langue ; 3. on présuppose une séparation entre expression et contenu. En tant qu’elle permet d’argumenter contre ces thèses, la traduction doit frayer un chemin à une nouvelle théorie du langage.The aim of this paper is to discuss the relationships between translation and contemporary theories of language. It is argued that these theories are still attached to the story of Babel: First, diversities are considered second to what is universal. Second, the speaker is considered as one who speaks one language. Third, it is presupposed a distinction between expression and content. Translation as an argument against these thesis, will therefore open up for a new theory of language.
