Résumé : On constitue en objet textuel le livre de P. Gygax, S. Zufferey, U. Gabriel, Le cerveau pense-t-il au masculin ? Cerveau, langage et représentations sexistes déclarant se vouer à l'élucidation scientifique de "représentations du genre" véhiculées par une langue (le français est privilégié) et à des prescriptions rectificatrices qui se prétendent déductibles de ladite science. Le présent travail exerce l'habitus épistémique de toute approche sémiotique, soit une description critique. Il pratique ainsi une double distanciation, formant dyptique : (I) les contenus évoqués par cet écrit, étudiés en deux temps : théorique et méthodologique ; (II) la praxis de ce discours auto-déclaré scientifique et, par là, le rapport qu'il entretient à l'égard tant de son objet que de son lecteur. Ce rapport y est configuré comme un ethos d'hégémonie morale et victimaire, inventant des scénographies clivantes autour de chaînes d'équivalences cognitivement vides.

Abstract : We shall approach the book by P.Gygax, S.Zufferey, U.Gabriel, Le cerveau pense-t-il au masculin ? Cerveau, langage et représentations sexistes as a textual object claiming to scientifically elucidate what the inscription of «gender representations» in a language (mostly French) is about. It also displays a prescriptive and corrective attitude, claiming it to be a product of their scientific investigation. Our method shall proceed along the lines of the epistemic habitus common to any semiotic approach. We shall construct a double distance, providing a dual perspective : (I) studying the contents mentioned by the book, in two steps, theoretical and methodological ; (II) studying the praxis of a text whose scientific value is only self-declared, and its ensuing position in regard to its readership. That position clearly establishes a specific ethos based on its hegemonic moral high-ground and its victimised perspective, inventing confrontational scenes and representations predicated on interpretations whose connexions are intellectually void.
